In 2000, German FN ranked Wonderful the #1 dressage sire in the younger stallion category based on his 44 offspring’s show records in Germany. He achieved the impressive dressage breed index of 156. He has been a sire and grandsire to several horses participating in the prestigious Elite auctions in Verden, Germany. At the 1998 Fall Elite auction, Winwood, a 3 year-old gelding by him, was selected and imported by Pan Am and World Equestrian Game Gold Medalist Debbie McDonald. Winwood was 4th in the nation to qualify for the USEF Intermediaire-1 Championship held with 2004 Olympic Selection Trial in San Juan Capistrano. Olympian Debbie McDonald selected Wonderful to breed for her sponsor River Grove Farm. Wonderful’s other imported offspring have been observed to be successfully marketed at $40,000 to $50,000.
His dam, MS Windflower, was imported to the US by Otto Fuchs of Hilton Farm, Somerset, VA., as a three-year old. She carries seven generations of States Premium mares, and is Elite Eligible herself. Her sire, Wandersmann XX, comes from a line of thoroughbreds contributing refinement of the body and limbs, with a good topline of shoulders, withers and croup. Windflower is an intelligent and dependable mare with an excellent temperament.
His sire, Wonderful, is the son of the legendary, Weltmeyer, who is considered by many to be the most influential Hanoverian stallion of the century. Wonderful was Reserve Champion of the stallion licensing at Verden, Germany out of 100 stallions in 1991. The Hanoverian State Stallion Book describes him being with excellent conformation, striking nobility, a very good type and expression.
